WOMEN WE LOVE...

DURING THIS EASTER SEASON....

We bring you a special feature on women and religion...

We start with a prayer...

Women's History Month
Prayers for Worship
March, 2006

Prayer 1
This prayer is designed for any persons to say the "Statement" and/or "Response" who feels moved to do so.  Though originally written as a prayer from man to woman, this version is meant to take into account the injury inflicted by women against women, as well as self-inflicted injuries caused by oppression.

Statement:  If I or any other has ever done anything to hurt you or offend you, and for the manifold transgressions against women, you and every other, I apologize.
Response:  I remember and I forgive.
Statement:
If you have ever felt demeaned, uncherished, or your womanhood betrayed in any way;  If I or any other has failed to see the light of you and the brilliance of your female spirit, on behalf of all of us, I apologize.
Response:  I remember and I forgive.
Statement:  May the beauty of women and the power of women and the vision of women now burst forth in our world and in our consciousness.
May the minds of all be healed.
May the heart of woman repair.
Response:  I remember and I forgive.
Statement:  I commit to you and to God that I am, and shall be, one who sees your value.
I see your light.  God bless you and your sisters, our mothers, and our daughters.
I honor you.
Response:  I remember and I forgive.

God is Still Speaking
By: Candace Chellew-Hodge

-- We must constantly remind ourselves that God spoke before the Bible was written and God continues to speak even though the canon is closed. Those who worship the Bible instead of the living, still-speaking God say that God would never do anything to contradict scripture, but wasn't that the purpose of Jesus' entire ministry?
